Chassis Structure, Powertrain & Mast Engineering
An electric forklift should not be selected from battery capacity alone. Rated load, load center, chassis mass, mast geometry, traction demand and hydraulic workload determine how much electrical power the truck must deliver during a working cycle.
The current Propolift electric range covers two distinctly different machine architectures.
The CPD30 and CPD35 use a 500 mm rated load center and an 80V electrical platform. These trucks are intended for pallet movement, production-line supply, warehouse transfer, loading docks and similar operations where maneuverability and predictable start-stop control matter. Lithium and lead-acid battery configurations are available according to the working schedule and charging infrastructure.
The CPD120 moves into a different electrical and mechanical class. It is rated at 12,000 kg at a 600 mm load center and uses a 560.3V LiFePO4 system rated at 228Ah / 127.74kWh. Travel power is provided by a 60.12kW drive motor, while two 48kW motors serve the working system. The power unit and motors use liquid cooling together with forced-air cooling.
This higher system voltage is not simply a specification used to make the battery appear larger. Heavy trucks require significantly more power during acceleration, loaded travel, ramp operation and lifting. Raising the operating voltage allows the powertrain to deliver high electrical power without relying only on extremely high current.
Mast selection must still be evaluated independently from the electrical system. Increasing lift height, fitting longer forks or adding a side shifter, fork positioner or clamp changes the load moment and may reduce usable capacity. The rated condition therefore needs to be checked against the actual load center and attachment configuration.
For projects requiring a specified chassis or mast steel grade, material requirements should be written into the approved technical specification and production documents rather than assumed from a general catalogue description.
Electric Forklift Platform Comparison
| Model | Rated Capacity | Load Center | Standard Lift | Battery Platform | Motor Configuration | Loaded Gradeability |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| CPD30 | 3,000 kg | 500 mm | 3,000 mm | 80V/230Ah lithium or 80V/500Ah lead-acid | 15kW traction + 18kW hydraulic | 14% |
| CPD35 | 3,500 kg | 500 mm | Confirm by final build | 80V/280Ah lithium or 80V/500Ah lead-acid | 15kW traction + 18kW hydraulic | Confirm by final build |
| CPD120 | 12,000 kg | 600 mm | 3,000 mm | 560.3V/228Ah, 127.74kWh LiFePO4 | 60.12kW drive + 48kW × 2 working motors | 18% |
Published values describe the current product configurations. Final battery, mast, motor, tyre and attachment specifications follow the confirmed production build.
Buyers comparing a high-capacity electric truck with an internal-combustion machine can also review the heavy duty forklift range before deciding which power system better matches the site.
Hydraulic Circuitry, Operational Safety & Rigorous Working Conditions

Electric drive does not remove the need to match the hydraulic system to the working cycle. Lift-cylinder demand, hydraulic motor output, valve flow, relief settings and attachment circuits still determine how the truck behaves during repetitive lifting and positioning.
On the CPD30 and CPD35 platforms, the traction and hydraulic systems use separate motor functions so travel demand and lifting demand can be controlled according to operating input. This is particularly useful in warehouse work where the truck repeatedly accelerates, stops, turns and raises loads over short cycles.
For the CPD120, thermal management becomes more important because of the higher continuous electrical power. The present platform uses liquid circulation and forced-air cooling around the main power components. During specification review, duty cycle, loaded travel distance, ramp frequency and ambient temperature should therefore be discussed together instead of treating cooling as an isolated component.
Battery selection must also follow the operating schedule.
Lithium configurations are useful where shorter charging windows and opportunity charging fit the shift pattern. Lead-acid remains practical for some CPD30 and CPD35 fleets with established battery-maintenance and scheduled charging procedures. The lower purchase price of one battery system should not be compared without considering charger infrastructure, maintenance work and required uptime.
Charging equipment is part of the truck specification. Before an export order is released, the destination site's supply voltage, frequency and phase should be confirmed together with the charger. A suitable battery paired with an unsuitable charging arrangement can still create operational downtime.
Indoor applications also need to be distinguished from specialized environments. A normal electric forklift produces no engine exhaust at the point of operation, but cold stores, washdown areas, corrosive environments or unusually wet sites may require additional review of battery temperature behavior, condensation control, connectors and electrical enclosure protection. Standard catalogue equipment should not automatically be assumed suitable for these conditions.
Tyres affect the electrical duty cycle as well. Surface resistance, tyre type, long travel routes and ramps alter traction demand and therefore energy consumption. These inputs matter when estimating battery requirements for a complete shift.

Quality Assurance, Load Verification & Factory Delivery at Propolift
Electric forklift inspection must cover both mechanical operation and the electrical power system.
Before shipment, the complete truck should be operated through forward and reverse travel, steering, lifting, lowering, mast tilt and braking functions. Battery status, display warnings, electrical connections and charging compatibility should be reviewed together with hydraulic leakage, mast movement, tyre installation and brake response.
On the 560.3V CPD120, cooling-system inspection deserves additional attention. Liquid-cooling connections, airflow paths and temperature warnings are checked around the power unit and motor system after the truck has actually travelled, lifted and braked. An issue that appears only after the powertrain is under load is more useful to find in the factory than after delivery.
Rated-load verification should use the ordered mast, fork and attachment arrangement. Where a customer or tender requires a defined proof-load test, formal stability test, electrical insulation test or another project-specific acceptance procedure, the test method, standard, load condition and acceptance criteria should be agreed before production rather than described as a universal test applied identically to every truck.

For applicable industrial-truck projects, safety requirements can be reviewed against ISO 3691-1 and the destination-market requirements. US projects may also reference ANSI/ITSDF B56.1 where applicable. Compliance documentation should always correspond to the actual truck configuration supplied.
Battery transport also needs to be considered before dispatch. Lithium-battery shipping requirements, carrier acceptance, battery documentation and protection against movement or electrical damage should be confirmed as part of the export plan. The charger and removable components should be identified clearly so that site commissioning does not depend on undocumented connections after arrival.
For custom orders, the final production record should link the forklift model with the approved battery, charger, mast, forks, tyres, attachments and electrical configuration. This makes later spare-parts identification and technical troubleshooting more reliable.

Frequently Asked Questions About Electric Forklifts
Q: Can battery capacity tell me whether the forklift will run for a full shift?
A: No. Ah or kWh alone cannot determine runtime. Load ratio, travel distance, lift frequency, ramp use, hydraulic demand, idle time and operator behavior all change energy consumption. Provide a typical shift profile and charging window so the battery and charger can be evaluated against the actual duty cycle.
Q: What is the difference between the 80V and 544V Propolift electric platforms?
A: The CPD30 and CPD35 use 80V systems for 3,000–3,500kg handling, while the CPD120 uses a 560.3V LiFePO4 platform for 12,000kg at a 600mm load center. Higher voltage supports the substantially greater power demand of loaded travel, lifting and heavy industrial operation.
Q: Should I choose lithium or lead-acid for a 3T or 3.5T forklift?
A: Lithium is generally better suited to operations using shorter charging windows or opportunity charging with less routine battery maintenance. Lead-acid can remain practical where the site already has established charging and maintenance procedures. Shift length, charger availability, battery handling and ownership cost should be compared together.
Q: Can a 12-ton electric forklift replace a 12-ton diesel forklift directly?
A: Not automatically. Confirm the 600mm rated load center, daily working hours, loaded travel distance, gradients, ground condition, ambient temperature and available charging power first. An electric truck can remove engine exhaust at the point of operation, but the battery, motor, cooling and charging system must support the actual duty cycle.
