The 40 ton high capacity forklift is a CPCD400 diesel counterbalance truck for industrial loads where a large amount of weight is concentrated into a relatively compact handling unit. Test-weight blocks, ballast units and removable counterweights are typical examples when they have been prepared in a form suitable for fork handling.
These loads are not always one solid piece. A test facility may work with several separate weight blocks, while another site may move a complete counterweight pack on a steel base. The number printed on one block therefore does not necessarily describe what the forklift will pick up on that move.

One Block or a Complete Set
Forty tons can be one large block. It can also be a set made from several smaller ones.
That difference is easy to understand on paper but important at the forklift. Individual test weights may be moved separately during preparation and then combined on a base for another part of the job. Removable counterweights can be handled in the same way when several pieces form one prepared unit.
