Product Details
The 40 ton heavy load forklift is a CPCD400 diesel counterbalance truck for very large production tooling and fabrication equipment. In a heavy manufacturing plant, the load on the forks is not always the product being made. It may be the welding fixture, positioning frame or assembly jig used to build that product.
These fixtures can remain in service for years and move repeatedly between production, storage and setup positions. Some are simple welded frames. Others carry locating blocks, clamps, brackets or other tooling that stays attached to the fixture even when no workpiece is on it. That makes the fixture itself a separate handling job.

The Fixture Is the Load
A large welding fixture may look like part of the workshop, but it still has to move.
One production program may finish and another begin. A jig may need to leave the bay for storage, or a second fixture may be brought in for a different product.
The 40 ton heavy load forklift can be used for this kind of transfer when the fixture has been prepared for fork handling.
What sits above the base should not be ignored. Clamps, locating blocks and projecting brackets can change the space around the frame even when the main welded structure stays the same.
An empty fixture also deserves its own handling reference. There is no finished product on it, but the tooling itself is still the load.
Move It the Same Way Next Time
Reusable tooling comes back.
That is what makes it different from a one-time shipment.
If the same assembly jig leaves the production bay every few weeks or months, keeping a known fork-entry position on the fixture is more practical than deciding on a new one each time. Those areas should remain easy to identify after repairs or tooling changes.
Later modifications can interfere with that arrangement. A new clamp, cable bracket or temporary support may be added exactly where the forks used to enter.
The fixture may still look familiar.
The forklift interface may not be.
For a 40 ton heavy load forklift, that is worth checking whenever a frequently moved fixture has been modified.
FAQ
Q1. Can A Fixture Be Moved While A Workpiece Is Still Clamped On It?
That should be treated as a different handling condition from moving the empty fixture. Once a workpiece remains attached, the fixture and workpiece form one unit for the move, and the arrangement should be checked in that combined state rather than relying on the handling method used for the empty jig.
Q2. Do Lifting Eyes On A Welding Fixture Mean It Can Also Be Handled By Forklift?
Not automatically. Lifting eyes are provided for a lifting arrangement and do not by themselves show that the underside of the fixture is suitable for fork support. Fork-entry areas need to be identified from the structure intended to carry the fixture during forklift handling.
Q3. Which Engines Are Available For The CPCD400?
The CPCD400 technical specification lists a Weichai WP12G375E350 and a Dongfeng Cummins QSM11-C335 as the two six-cylinder diesel engine options. The final engine is confirmed with the order configuration.
