The 3 Ton Diesel Forklift Truck is a CPC(D)30 diesel counterbalance model offered by Propolift. In metalworking factories and component supply operations, the loads are not always carried on wooden pallets. Steel stillages and reusable metal bins are common alternatives, especially for parts that are manufactured in batches and moved in their own containers.

The Opening Used for Parts Is Not Always for Forks
A stillage with a side-opening panel is convenient when workers need to take out individual components. That opening has a different purpose from the arrangement used to lift the container.
The panel should be closed and secured as required by the stillage design before a loaded bin is moved.
Mesh-sided containers are another example. Workers can see much of the contents without opening the bin, but the mesh does not necessarily restrain a heavy component if it has been placed loosely inside.
Machined brackets, metal fittings and small fabricated parts may be kept in trays or against internal dividers. Those fittings belong to the container's packing arrangement.

Empty Does Not Mean Interchangeable

That depends on the stillage design. Some folding containers permit movement in their collapsed condition, provided the panels and locking mechanisms are secured. Others have specific handling restrictions. The container manufacturer's instructions should determine whether the folded arrangement is suitable for forklift handling.
Q3. Can several loaded stillages be lifted together?
Only if the containers are approved for the proposed combined arrangement and the resulting load is within the forklift's actual lifting capacity. The way the containers are retained and supported matters as well. Stacking multiple bins on the forks should not be assumed acceptable simply because their combined weight is below the nominal 3-ton rating.
